As of a year and 6 months ago, the father role became a priority. Control freak, OCD, PS4, GTA5. Sweet Damage is a crew created by four graffiti artists from Romania. Each member has a unique style developed over more than 15 years of work in this domain. The official team members are Cage, Biex, Reck and Seyr. Starting 2015 they have a new addition to the team. His name is Pandelee , and he joined Sweet Damage Crew in March 2015. Their collaboration started in this formula after taking part in some national and international graffiti contests. Miguel Chevalier is a French digital artist best known as one of the pioneers of digital and virtual art. Chevalier  focuses on the use of computer technology as an artistic means of expression to create generative and interactive virtual-reality installations. Inside Saint-Eustache church in Paris , the artist has realized a virtual-reality installation that interacts with the dramatic gothic architecture of the site. ‘ Voûtes célestes ’ has been projected onto the church’s vaults and central nave, making the volumes of the columns and ribbed vaults engage in a dynamic choreography. The work, accompanied by musical improvisations played by Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard on the organ, was produced for Nuit Blanche 2016  on the first of October. #Digital #MiguelChevalier #Paris #Virtualreality

Croatian artist LONAC  recently visited coastal town of  Rijeka to participate in the ongoing SPAJALICA  public art project by the local Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art . “ Nitpicking ” is showing an old man, the artist’s father, working on an antique sailboat model. Lonac prepared the reference photo himself, creating the right aesthetic for the image. Armed with nothing but a photograph and some 100 spray cans, he created a real masterpiece of muralism. Lonac’s father actually created a similar model years ago, based on plans he bought in Rijeka. Check out some photos depicting the beautiful mural below. German duo HERAKUT  was in Iceland with URBAN NATION  where they created a beautiful new work on the streets of Reykjavik . Since 2013 the initiative URBAN NATION , under the direction of Yasha Young, has been inviting international luminaries and aspiring talents of Urban Contemporary Art (UCA) to Berlin to show their works within the urban fabric of Berlin: building façades, house walls and shop windows. In town for Iceland Airwaves 2016 , Herakut collaborated with  Kronos Quartet , an American string quartet based in San Francisco to reinterpret their work on a wall. The end-result is astonishing and shows one of Herakut ’s signature characters playing a cello while being surrounded by birds and a music partition. Hello Rares! Let’s start with who you are and where are you from… Hello people! I’m Rares C., I was born and lived most of my life in Bucharest, a love-hate story. Where do you tattoo at the moment? Since one month ago I have been working with Alex in our private studio in Bucharest, Romania. How did you end up being a tattooist? I don’t remember exactly the moment I’ve decided to start tattooing , it all came from the need of having a job and wishing to go beyond my home scratching. The first time I have started tattooing myself and others  was around 17, we were improvising our machines, needles, almost everything. Back then, working in a tattoo shop meant  dropping out of school and I wasn’t such a badass, I wonder were would I be now if had continued back then. Do you have a mentor/ favorite tattoo artist that inspired you to do this? I had learned a lot from the people I have worked with,  Alex Petcu and Bob are some of them, they have showed me the basic stuff, their work  is impressive to me. Entering  the  industry I have realized that it is a much, much bigger world then I have imagined.  It took a while until I have realized the way I want to tattoo. When it comes to my taste in tattooing,  from Romania I would mention: Mate and Alex . An international reference it would be Lenad Nada , one of first artists who showed me that tattoos can be more than black’n grey, colour  or realism, traditional. How long have you been doing this? I guess it’s almost 6 years now. How would you describe your tattooing style? I can’t say I have a tattoo style¸  at this moment I work only with black ink and I have a certain graphic approach to it. I tattoo in a manner that comes more natural to me. What types of tattoos will you not do? Wright wing symbols or other shit I wouldn’t be comfortable with,  tattoo replicas. I know you had a guest spot at AKA Berlin .. how was that experience for you? When i got there I was pretty nervous , a lot of artists that I follow tattooed in that place. But everything was relaxed  and professional, a constantly changing crew in a creative place. I didn’t get the chance to talk with all them, but those i have talked to were nice and downright. When I’m  in a place like that I look over as much as I can. I’m curios about their  tattoo techniques , new machines… Have you noticed any differences between Berlin and Romania regarding this culture? Yeah , there are a lot of them.  There are cultural and economical differences, Berlin has already multiple generations of tattooing, it has a big artists and sub-cultural community, many people from around the world come there and  people don’t stress themselves about money as much  as in Romania. But when you get down to it you will see the people speak the same language, they have the same difficulties with the clients and so on. I could say  there was more trust from the client’s side. Why do you think tattoos have started to be such a big trend nowadays, opposed to the stigma they have gotten back in the day? I think, the time and the generations are changing. The internet has to do a lot with it and the influence of the western society through media. The stigma disappears also along with the older generations. Ok, let’s talk about ethics.. Do you think it’s important, as a tattoo artist to do only original and unique works? I don’t know what exactly is a tattoo artist, is it an artist that is tattooing or is it a tattooer that tattoos in an artistic kind of way?  If there is more emphasis on the word ”artist”, yes, I think it is important. How do you feel about the tattooists that steal tattoos/designs from other  artists? I think they should all burn in hell!  No, I’m joking . Everybody is responsible for their own work , if you do somebody else’s tattoo you are not taking yourself seriously. I just think it’s not a good idea on the long run. How has being a tattoo artist changed your life? Is this something you feel like you’d be doing forever? I get to travel in different places, having the opportunity to make friends or meet old ones. I have a certain freedom in my work. I would also like to practice other crafts as well but this is the job that I would like to  do for the rest my life. Do you think that there are certain secrets/ guide lines to follow to become a successful tattoo artist? Success can mean a lot of things. Brazilian artist EDUARDO KOBRA  utilizes bright colors and bold lines while staying true to a kaleidoscope theme throughout his art. The technique of repeating squares and triangles allows him to bring to life the famous people he depicts in his images. Kobra has also stayed true to the everyday human subject, maintaining his bold color use to bring these individuals to light in his works. Within the same vein, his use of black and white images are breathtaking when placed against his colorful checkered backgrounds. His latest work can be found  somewhere on the streets of Amsterdam in Netherlands and it is called “ Let Me Be Myself .”  Kobra worked several days to create this huge and beautiful portrait of Anna Frank , a German-born diarist and writer. Anna Frank was one of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust and she gained fame following the publication of her diary, “ The Diary Of A Young Girl ”. 1984 born Martin Whatson is a Norwegian born and based stencil artist. While studying Art and Graphic design at Westerdals School of Communication, Oslo, he discovered stencils and the urban art scene. He looks for inspirations in people, city landscapes, old buildings, graffiti, posters and decaying walls.  Whatson  uses grey tones as a basis but add’s vibrant colours to break the monochrome concrete expression and bring a splash of life to his motives. These days, he works covers a variety of mediums. You’ll find small pieces on canvas as well as massive murals covering a three story building. DOES was born in 1982 in Veghel, The Netherlands. Although his style is pure, DOES doesn’t like to limit himself to one discipline. Over the years, DOES ’s work has diversified into illustrative drawings, prints, murals and canvasses. 12 artists were commissioned in secret by Miami’s most famed football franchise to celebrate the opening of their Hard Rock Stadium .  Miami Dolphins stepped away from traditional stigma and on to new grounds that brings creativity and lifestyle into the sport. “ The Message ” tribute is a panoramic mural that celebrated Voyager 1 ’s 39th anniversary since its launch by NASA on September 5, 1977 . Voyager 1 spacecraft studied the outer Solar System, while carrying a special message in the event that it will be found by intelligent life forms from other planetary systems. The mural was created by street artist The Orion for  Sibiu International Street Art Festival 2016 , in Romania. Like the spacecraft’s special message, there were 39 hidden, unique, hand-finished postcards on the mural for people to find, keep or maybe send a message with it. #mural #Romania #sibiu #TheOrion #streetart

The latest installation by Crystal Wagner in the city of Lodz is colourful and strange. Created under the UNIQA art projects flag, Wagner explains it: “ Hyperbolic is a wild exterior growth that wraps around the art nouveau façade of a 100 year old building in Lodz, Poland. I am interested in the dialog between architecture and organic forms and structures found in nature.
