Wired Christian Church of Siponto, Itlay - the vandallist (12)

“I imagined being able to draw in the air while keeping a direct relationship with the context”, says EdoardoTresoldi, the artist of this sublime shrine.

The installation joins ancient archaeology with contemporary art and its 12th-century structure attracts crowds and queues. The reason isn’t the church itself. What’s attracting the curious crowds is the fact that, from afar, it seems nothing more but an optical illusion. It gives the appearance of a hologram, or a 3D charcoal drawing, being all covered in iron-wire mesh.
