Young Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic (a.k.a. Zach or Zachas) based in Penang, Malaysia with a degree in fine art and schooled as a painter developed his signature style defined in emotional vibes and relentless mashups approaches in his artworks. Describing himself as ‘‘more of a fine artist who paints in the streets rather than a street artist.” the artist is active in studio and outdoors as well. The self-definition implies his artwork technique; elements from both worlds-fine art circles and the urban view are integrated into one piece with thick cluttered lines of spray paints with his intricate brushwork. The way he configures street installations which connect real items with painted figures is seen in works like his ‘two children on a bicycle’, a well-known street art piece in Penang’s George Town. His focus is based on portraits and surroundings, other details such as pipes holes gathered from the streets are brought in art pieces reveal a humoristic perspective. A campaign set by DDB China Group encourages walking instead of driving unfolding in clever amazing street art of footsteps turned into paint leaves on the streets of Shanghai. “We decided to leverage a busy pedestrian crossing; a place where both pedestrians and drivers meet. We lay a giant canvas of 12.6 meters long by 7 meters wide on the ground, covering the pedestrian crossing with a large leafless tree. Placed on either side of the road beneath the traffic lights, were sponge cushions soaked in green environmentally friendly washable and quick dry paint. As pedestrians walked towards the crossing, they would step onto the green sponge and as they walked, the soles of their feet would make foot imprints onto the tree on the ground. Each green footprint added to the canvas like leaves growing on a bare tree, which made people feel that by walking they could create a greener environment.” The projected extended to 132 roads in 15 Chinese cities with an estimation of 3.9 million people involved. Classical dance in all its beauty is no longer appreciated as it used to be. However, there is still some hope because one photographer from Bucharest initiated a project that aims to bring to the street the beauty of the classical dance positions. Amazing ballet postures are created by dancers on the streets of Bucharest, in some of the most unexpected places. The photographer, who is used to immortalize dance scenes in theaters wanted to prove that this city is still alive and always surprising.
